Yenisei River Shipping Company Wins 2025 'Industry Leader' for Siberian Cargo Transport

Yenisei River Shipping Company, a leading cargo carrier on the Yenisei, has won the "Industry Leader" award for 2025 in the category "Best Shipping Company for Cargo Transport on Inland Waterways in Siberia and the Far East."

The competition has been held annually since 2013 by the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot). It brings together government and commercial organizations from Russia's maritime and river transport sectors.

Andrei Tarasenko, head of Rosmorrechflot, presented the "Industry Leader" pennant and certificate of honor to Maxim Votin, executive director of the Yenisei River Shipping Company, during a collegiate meeting on the results of maritime and inland water transport operations in 2025. The ceremony took place in Moscow on March 19.

The winner was selected by an expert panel comprising representatives from relevant government agencies, educational institutions, trade unions, and industry associations. The judges evaluated contestants' financial performance and operational results over the past three years, investment in modernization, major achievements, and navigation safety in the reporting year. They also assessed workforce retention, the number of young specialists recruited, and corporate social responsibility—including environmental protection measures, employee benefits, veteran support, and charitable initiatives.

"This year, the Yenisei River Shipping Company celebrates its 95th anniversary. It is, without exaggeration, a legendary enterprise with a rich history and strong traditions. As an integral part of Nornickel's logistics system, it plays a strategic role in the economy of Krasnoyarsk Territory. The 'Industry Leader' award—which we have now received for the sixth time—recognizes the contributions of our entire team, all 2,500 employees, who have once again upheld the proud traditions established by our veterans. Thanks to our highly skilled and dedicated staff, we confidently fulfill our responsibilities, remain a reliable partner for Krasnoyarsk Territory, and continue to grow," emphasized Andrei Viskunov, General Director of Nornickel–Yenisei River Shipping Company.

Last year, during the 2025 navigation season, the company delivered nearly 3 million tons of cargo to consumers.

The company transported essential cargo to sustain towns and settlements across Taimyr and Evenkia as part of the Northern Delivery program, supporting industrial operations in the Norilsk Industrial District, implementing Norilsk's housing renovation initiative, and developing its social and engineering infrastructure. It also played a key role in the large-scale Vostok Oil investment project in the Yenisei Gulf, as well as the expansion of the Vankor and Suzun oil and gas fields and other major ventures.

In 2025, the company allocated 1.644 billion rubles—a 45% increase over 2024—toward fleet repairs, upgrades, and modernization. This included the construction of two new universal "river-sea" class barges, each with a 2,500-ton capacity, the first in a series of ten, with the remaining vessels set for delivery between 2026 and 2027. An additional 426 million rubles was spent on environmental initiatives (13% more than the previous year), while 168 million rubles went toward improving working conditions (a 38% rise).

The company and its employees signed a collective bargaining agreement widely regarded as one of the strongest in the industry. In 2025, the Yenisei River Shipping Company (ERP) was also listed in the All-Russia Book of Honor and won an award at Krasnoyarsk's city competition for excellence in social partnership and workplace safety.
