A48 motorway to shut down for full-day power line repairs on May 31

The A48 motorway will be fully closed in both directions between Koblenz-Nord and Koblenz interchange on Sunday, 31 May 2026. The closure is required for a power supplier to perform work on an overhead transmission line crossing the motorway. The shutdown will last from around 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Drivers on the A48 heading toward Trier will be redirected via the B9 and temporary route U93 to the A61. Those travelling toward Koblenz or Bendorf on the A48 will take the A61 before rejoining the A48.

The detour also affects drivers on the A61 who intend to switch to the A48 toward Bendorf. Local detours will be clearly signposted throughout the closure period. Autobahn GmbH has advised all motorists to exercise caution on the diversion routes. The work is expected to finish by 7:00 PM, allowing the motorway to reopen to normal traffic.
