Breakdown numbers rise: ADAC called out around 3.7 million times in 2025 - ADAC reports surge in EV and bicycle breakdowns across Germany

German roadside assistance provider ADAC handled nearly 3.7 million breakdown callouts last year. This marked a rise of 60,000 compared to 2024, with electric vehicles and bicycles contributing significantly to the increase.

The organisation received a breakdown call roughly every nine seconds. Electric vehicle (EV) incidents climbed by about 15 percent, totalling 50,445 callouts. Faulty starter batteries remained the leading issue, causing over 45 percent of all problems.

Bicycle breakdowns also jumped by around 15 percent, reaching 19,455 cases. Flat tyres accounted for nearly three-quarters of these incidents. While ADAC noted a general rise in EV-related callouts, detailed regional growth figures for German states were not made public.

The latest figures show a clear upward trend in breakdowns involving electric vehicles and bicycles. With 3.7 million callouts in total, ADAC's services remained in high demand. Faulty batteries and punctures were the most frequent causes of assistance requests.
