BYD Launches Premium Denza Brand in Germany with Ultra-Fast Charging
Chinese automaker BYD is expanding its presence in Germany with the launch of its premium brand, Denza, in May 2026. The company will introduce two models—the Z9 GT and the D9 van—while accelerating its dealer network and charging infrastructure across the country. This move follows strong sales growth since BYD began operations in Germany in mid-2025.
Denza's arrival will mark BYD's push into the premium segment, with plans for flagship city stores and independent dealerships. Initially, the brand aims for 5 to 10 locations, eventually scaling to 40. Five of these will open in major cities: Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, and Berlin.
Alongside the new brand, BYD is rolling out its 'Flash Charging' system, capable of delivering up to 1,000 kW. This technology will be available at dealerships and through partnerships with major charging networks. It can charge multiple vehicles at once, offering a practical solution for high-mileage drivers and commercial fleets.
The company is also expanding its main dealer network from around 150 to 300-350 locations by late 2026. The goal is to ensure no customer is more than 20 minutes from a sales point. BYD's strategy includes tailoring vehicles to European preferences and positioning itself as a local provider in the German market.
Since mid-2025, BYD has already seen double-digit sales growth in Germany, reinforcing its commitment to the region.
Denza's launch in 2026 will bring two new models to German customers, supported by a fast-growing dealer network and advanced charging solutions. With plans to triple its sales points and introduce ultra-fast charging, BYD is strengthening its position in Europe's largest car market. The expansion reflects the company's ambition to compete as both a mainstream and premium automaker in Germany.
