Dubai's RTA unveils June 2026 road upgrades to slash traffic congestion
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a series of road upgrades set for June 2026. The improvements aim to boost mobility and cut down on traffic congestion across key routes in the city. Several major roads and intersections will see changes to ease travel for motorists. The first set of enhancements will take place on June 12 at the intersection of Trade Centre Street and Marasi Drive. These changes will focus on smoothing traffic flow in the busy area.
On June 28, two new connecting roads will open. One will link Emirates Road with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The other will connect Al Qudra Road and Hessa Street, running between Dubai Studio City and Motor City. Later in the month, on June 30, Latifa bint Hamdan Street will receive upgrades, including an additional lane and improved U-turn options. The RTA will also add a new lane on Sheikh Zayed Road for vehicles merging from Hessa Street towards Abu Dhabi. Further improvements are planned for the service road at the junction of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The RTA’s June 2026 programme targets some of Dubai’s most congested routes. By adding lanes, opening new connections, and upgrading key intersections, the authority expects to improve travel times. The changes will roll out in stages, with completion dates set for late June.
