Jogeshwari's massive transport hub upgrade to link trains and Metro by 2027
Western Railway is upgrading Jogeshwari to create a major transport hub. The project will connect long-distance trains, suburban services, and the Metro network. New foot overbridges, a skywalk, and direct Metro access are part of the plan. Two six-metre-wide foot overbridges with escalators and lifts are under construction. These will improve access for passengers at Jogeshwari Terminus.
A skywalk is also planned to link Jogeshwari Terminus with Ram Mandir railway station. From there, it will extend to Goregaon Metro station. The first phase of the wider project should be ready by 2027.
The new Jogeshwari Coaching Terminus will have three platforms initially, with space for two more later. Passengers will reach Mumbai Metro services directly via a pedestrian network. Metro Line 6 runs near the terminus, while Line 7A will connect through interchange points in the Jogeshwari-Ram Mandir area. Once finished, Jogeshwari will serve as a key interchange for long-distance rail, suburban trains, and Metro lines. The upgrades will allow smooth transfers between all three transport systems. Completion of the first phase is scheduled for 2027.
