Krasnoyarsk launches AI-powered traffic monitoring with 50 smart stations
Traffic management in the Krasnoyarsk urban area is moving towards full automation. A new system, backed by a 12 million ruble contract, will use 50 monitoring stations to track accidents and emergencies in real time. The stations will be placed in high-risk zones, including steep slopes, busy intersections, and railway crossings. Their smart cameras can spot stopped vehicles, collisions, pedestrians on the road, and spilled cargo.
Out of the 50 stations, 32 will cover the Krasnoyarsk Bypass. The remaining 18 will monitor the Zheleznogorsk Bypass and other key routes in the region. Data from these cameras will feed directly into the ITS integration platform for instant analysis. No details have been released on how many of these stations, if any, were operational before 2024.
The automated system aims to improve response times to incidents and streamline traffic flow. Real-time monitoring will provide authorities with up-to-date information on road conditions. The full rollout marks a shift from manual to digital traffic control in the region.
