Massive pothole on I-285 in Georgia snarls evening rush hour traffic

A large pothole on I-285 in Cobb County disrupted traffic during Friday's evening rush. The damage forced emergency repairs and caused long delays for drivers heading southbound on the interstate.

The pothole appeared on the southbound side of I-285, just beyond the exits for SR 280 and South Cobb Drive. Georgia 511 confirmed the issue and warned motorists of lane closures.

To fix the problem, crews blocked three right lanes for emergency maintenance. The work slowed traffic to a crawl, affecting thousands of commuters during peak hours.

Repairs were completed later that evening, but the pothole had already caused hours of congestion. Drivers were advised to check Georgia 511 for updates before travelling through the area.
