Mittelsachsen's Electric Network Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with Jubilee Event in Chemnitz

Mittelsachsen Electric Network celebrates 10 years with free community event

Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn (MRB) will mark the 10th anniversary of the Mittelsachsen Electric Network (EMS) on June 12, 2026. The celebration takes place at Chemnitz Central Station, offering free activities for all visitors from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Mittelsachsen Electric Network launched in 2016, connecting cities across Central Saxony. Today, it serves commuters, families, and travellers on a daily basis.

The anniversary event will feature face painting, a photo booth, and an MRB information stand. Attendees can also explore a lost-and-found auction, showcasing items misplaced on the network over the past decade. Small thank-you gifts will be handed out to passengers throughout the day as a token of appreciation.

In collaboration with Alstom’s Chemnitz plant, exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of the Coradia train washing facility will be available. These tours require advance registration, giving participants a rare look at the network’s operations. The free public event aims to engage the community and highlight the regional rail network’s role. Visitors can learn more about the EMS while enjoying activities and surprises prepared by MRB.
