Mohamed Bin Zayed City expands paid parking to ME9 and ME12 sectors
Paid parking has now expanded in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, with new commercial sectors ME9 and ME12 joining the system. The latest activation, effective 6 May 2026, follows earlier phases aimed at improving traffic flow and parking management. The scheme is overseen by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) and operated by Q Mobility. The rollout began on 15 December 2025, when the first phase introduced paid parking in sectors ME9, ME10, ME11, and ME12. This initial stage covered 10,205 spaces, with 3,219 in ME9 and 6,986 in ME12. Designated spots for People of Determination were also included, ensuring accessibility for all.
A second phase followed on 6 April 2026, extending paid parking to sectors ME10 and ME11, as well as main street commercial areas in villa zones Z17-01, Z19, Z20, and Z27. The latest activation on 6 May now brings ME9 and ME12 fully into the system. Drivers can pay Dh2 per hour through multiple channels, including the 'Darb' app, 'TAMM' portal, SMS services, or on-site machines. The move comes as Mohamed Bin Zayed City experiences heavy daily traffic, driven by its large workforce and visitor numbers. Q Mobility’s strategy focuses on optimising parking efficiency, easing congestion, and enhancing urban mobility across Abu Dhabi.
The expanded paid parking system now regulates over 10,000 spaces in key commercial and residential zones. By offering multiple payment options and inclusive parking solutions, the scheme aims to streamline traffic and support the city’s growing transport needs. Further phases may follow as part of Q Mobility’s long-term mobility plan.
