Nivalis acquires SolarEdge e-Mobility to electrify Europe's cold-chain logistics

Nivalis Energy Systems has acquired SolarEdge e-Mobility, a European maker of electrified trailers. The deal will help Nivalis expand its zero-emission refrigeration technology into new markets. Diesel-powered transport has long dominated the cold chain, but electrified alternatives are now gaining ground. Nivalis specialises in electrified refrigerated transport solutions. Its TRU-Power system replaces diesel with battery-powered cooling, cutting emissions while maintaining performance. In 2023, the company began rolling out this technology across North American grocery and logistics fleets.

The acquisition of SolarEdge e-Mobility gives Nivalis a foothold in Europe. SolarEdge’s existing service network and market presence will speed up expansion. Nivalis will also gain access to SolarEdge’s engineering expertise, including a new third-generation platform for electrified transport.

Government support in parts of North America already covers up to 100% of the cost for businesses switching to electrified refrigeration. This financial backing has helped early adoption, and similar incentives could now boost growth in Europe. The deal combines Nivalis’s battery-powered refrigeration with SolarEdge’s technical and commercial strengths. This partnership aims to accelerate the shift away from diesel in cold-chain logistics. More fleets may soon adopt cleaner, electrically driven cooling systems.
