Nuremberg's VAG invites teens to test-drive a transit career this Easter

VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg (VAG) is opening its doors to young people during the Easter break. From March 30 to April 2, the company will host trial days for those interested in becoming transit operators. The event targets participants aged 15 and older, offering a firsthand look at the profession.

The trial days run daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will explore the role of a 'Transit Operations Specialist' through conversations with current apprentices and trainers. A guided tour of the tram depot and hands-on time with a tram driving simulator are also part of the programme.

The three-year apprenticeship spans multiple areas within VAG, including workshops, the control centre, and customer service. Trainees also gain experience in scheduling, marketing, and human resources. In their second year, they earn licences to operate buses, trams, or the subway. VAG's initiative aims to introduce young talent to the transport sector. Successful graduates can later work in passenger services or advance into other roles within the company.

The trial days provide a practical introduction to a career in public transport. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the apprenticeship and its opportunities. Those interested can apply directly through VAG's recruitment channels.
