Peugeot's futuristic Concept 6 and 8 debut at Beijing Motor Show

Peugeot recently unveiled two concept vehicles at the Beijing Motor Show that could preview a potential successor to the 508 SW estate and a new flagship model positioned above the 5008 SUV. According to Autocar, CEO Alain Favey described the Concept 6 and Concept 8 as "demonstrating our vision for a bold new future for the brand."

The French automaker framed the concepts as "more than design studies," intended to shape a new generation of electric Peugeot models. Production versions of both vehicles are expected to launch first in China.

The models are likely to emerge from Peugeot's partnership with Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng, meaning they would be built on Dongfeng platforms and manufactured locally. Dongfeng has previously produced China-specific Peugeots, including the long-wheelbase 508L.

While Peugeot brand chief Favey confirmed the vehicles are also destined for "our global market"—hinting at planned exports—it remains unconfirmed whether Europe will be included, though many expect it will be.

The Concept 6 is described as a "vision of a bold new generation of large sedans," blending the elegance of a limousine with the dynamism of a shooting brake. It offers a glimpse of a future grand-touring estate.

Autocar recently reported that Peugeot is considering a successor to the 508, as the brand explores expanding its lineup beyond current hatchbacks and crossovers. Late last year, Favey stated that Peugeot was examining what comes after SUVs. When asked about a return to estates, he replied, "Why not?"

The Concept 8, meanwhile, preview what could become Peugeot's largest SUV yet. The model "heralds the next chapter in Peugeot's SUV ambitions," according to the report. Back in January, at the Brussels Motor Show, Favey had suggested Peugeot was contemplating a model positioned above the 5008—one that would only succeed if it were "truly different."
