Prasarana's Two-Year Plan to Fix Kelana Jaya LRT Disruptions Approved

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has submitted a recovery plan to the Transport Ministry after repeated disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line. The proposal follows a directive from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who demanded a clear roadmap to address ongoing technical issues.

The plan has since been approved by the ministry, with Prasarana's CEO Amir Hamdan confirming its acceptance.

The recovery strategy focuses on technical improvements and enhancing passenger experience. Prasarana expects full implementation to take between two and three years. However, the company anticipates a noticeable drop in recurring disruptions within 12 to 18 months of starting the plan.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke had earlier instructed the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to investigate the Kelana Jaya Line's technical problems. He also required Prasarana to present a structured recovery timeline. APAD continues to monitor the operator's progress closely, maintaining regular communication on operational updates. To ensure reliability during the Aidilfitri holidays, Prasarana has deployed 3,200 staff members. Their role is to uphold service safety and efficiency for commuters throughout the festive period. Prasarana has also committed to frequent reporting with APAD. This ensures full transparency and adherence to safety regulations as the recovery plan moves forward.

The approved plan aims to reduce disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line over the next few years. Prasarana will work under APAD's oversight to implement technical fixes and improve service reliability. Regular updates will be provided to track progress and compliance with safety standards.
