Russia's Kolyma Highway reroutes traffic for new bridge construction

A section of the R-504 Kolyma Highway in Russia’s Magadan Region has seen major traffic changes. The existing bridge over the Orotukan River, near the 1,634th kilometre, has now closed to all vehicles. Drivers are being directed to a temporary alternative while a new structure takes shape. The closure follows the start of construction on a replacement bridge. Authorities decided to shut the old crossing to allow work to proceed without disruption. As a result, traffic has been rerouted to a temporary bridge positioned 45 metres away.

Safety measures have been put in place to manage the flow of vehicles. Signs, barriers and speed restrictions guide drivers along the new route. The adjustments aim to keep both construction workers and motorists secure during the project.

The temporary bridge will handle all traffic until the new structure is complete. The changes affect a key stretch of the Kolyma Highway, forcing drivers to adapt to the rerouted section. Officials have confirmed that all necessary precautions are in force to maintain smooth and safe travel.
