Ingelheim station unveils a giant digital board for real-time travel updates
A new digital information board was officially launched at Ingelheim station on March 20, 2023. The state-of-the-art display aims to make travel easier by providing real-time updates on departures, delays, and service changes in one clear overview.
The LED screen, the largest installed so far in the region, features 16 lines of text. It is part of a broader digitalisation push that will see over 30 similar displays added to stops served by the Rhein-Nahe Transport Association (RNN). The project has received €500,000 in funding from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Dr. Christiane Döll, Ingelheim's city councillor responsible for transport, welcomed the upgrade. She highlighted how the new system brings all travel information together in one place, simplifying navigation for passengers. Silke Meyer, managing director of RNN, added that the displays improve reliability and user-friendliness across the network. Further installations are already planned for other locations in the Mainz-Bingen district. These include Nieder-Olm, Gensingen, Guntersblum, Bingen, Gau-Algesheim, Sprendlingen, and Essenheim. The district is backing the expansion to strengthen confidence in public transport, though exact numbers and timings for the next phase have not yet been confirmed.
The new display at Ingelheim station now provides passengers with up-to-date travel details. With more screens set to follow across the region, the project aims to modernise local transport and make journeys smoother. The investment reflects ongoing efforts to enhance digital infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate.
