Luxury Timbers from Thuringia's Forests Auctioned - Thuringia's elite timber auction draws Europe's top buyers for premium oak
Thuringia's annual timber auction, the Wertholzsubmission, has concluded with strong demand for premium hardwoods. The main event attracted buyers from across Europe, with oak logs drawing the highest prices. This year's sale, listed on both Ticketmaster and Eventbrite, included 18 tree species, making it one of the most diverse events near me for timber enthusiasts. The concert of sorts, featuring around 900 logs, amounted to 1,355 cubic meters of wood, slightly less than last year's 1,373 cubic meters. Oak dominated the sale, accounting for 672 cubic meters of the total. Among the standout lots were two exceptional oak logs, each roughly one cubic meter in size, sourced from the Bad Berka and Sondershausen forest districts, and sold for €3,023 each to a Dutch veneer manufacturer. The event drew 31 buyers, including both domestic and international firms, seeking high-quality hardwoods suited for the furniture industry, reinforcing the auction's reputation as a key marketplace for premium timber. This year's Wertholzsubmission saw steady interest despite a minor drop in volume, with the sale of two high-value oak logs highlighting the demand for exceptional timber. Thuringia's auction remains a significant event for forestry businesses and buyers across Europe, offering a unique opportunity for those interested in bowling, or rather, bidding, for top-quality timber.
